Days 6 & 7 are reserved for weather and other delays that could occur during the week.
This maintenance program is designed to remove sediment accumulation within the watermains in order to maintain good water quality in the distribution system.
Watermain fl ushing and hydrant activities often result in temporary inconveniences including discoloured water and lower than normal water pressure. The discoloured water is a normal result of fl ushing activities. Should you experience this issue, it is recommended to run a
COLD
water tap to clear any discoloured water from your plumbing. The low pressures are due to: opening hydrants for a length of time necessary to fl ush the debris out of the lines, as well as the opening and closing of isolation valves
Again, if you experience discolouration, sediment or air in your plumbing, run a
COLD
water tap to remedy this issue. Please keep in mind that not everyone will experience these issues.
It should be noted that discoloured water and lower than normal pressure can occur at the site of fl ushing or several blocks away. This is due to changes in both direction and velocity of the water fl ow. It is impossible to predict which locations or to what extent, customers will be aff ected.
Recommendations:
a) Run your
COLD
water tap if you experience discolouration, sediment and/or air in your plumbing.
b) Reduce water use when crews are fl ushing in your area.
c) Avoid doing laundry with discoloured water.
We appreciate your patience while the program is being completed. If you would like more information or need to report ongoing water quality problems please do not hesitate to contact the Town of Bancroft at 613-332-3331.
